And So We Meet Again...

Been a while since I've blogged! I can't access the 'Book from work so I figure this is the best venting alternative. Especially at 8:00am when most of my friends would choke me through the phone if I tried to talk to them :-).

Bad morning. Bad week so far. It's one of those times when I feel like everything bad in my life converges on the same couple of days. Bleh. But at least this weekend will be better. DW comes back from Sweden for 2 weeks so that will be fun, and I also get to puppy-sit for Shannon. And tomorrow I'm going out for margaritas with some friends. If I just get through today I should be fine. Good thing I have good ol' Playlist.com to help me out :-).

Eh

It's been a while, sorry my non-existent readers :-).

So let's see, what have I been up to... introduced DW to the g'rents recently, which went well. I realized very abruptly and somewhat embarrassingly that New Bern just doesn't hold the same allure for me as it used to. It's nice to see my grandparents, obviously, but as a town... it kinda sucks. No, not even kinda, it totally does. I'm so glad I never actually succeeded in moving there- I'd much rather be in Raleigh, even though I can't stand to be here sometimes.

While we were down there we went to a picnic held to celebrate an old friend's homecoming from Africa, so I got to see a lot of people I hadn't talked to in a while. Whom I will see again this weekend! Our convention starts this Friday, which is exciting! I've heard lots of good things about this year's program. Of course I hear good things about the program every year, but each one seems to be exactly what I need to hear at that time. And from what I've heard I think this year will definitely live up to my expectations.

Really haven't done anything interesting lately, it's been the same old stuff. Work, food, whatnot. Going shopping with the girls tonight, and then to the Coldplay show tomorrow. Although I still have a ton of stuff to do to get ready for convention so I don't really know how I'm gonna fit it all in, but I'll try my best :-)!

July 4th Weekend, Vintage Dresses, & Free Jack & Coke Slushies :-)

July 4th weekend I went to Savannah, GA, with Shannon and her sister. I enjoyed it immensely and hope I can go back soon! Didn't explore as much as I would have liked. Friday we went to Tybee Island to a place called The Crab Shack- if you didn't know it was there you would think you were lost. It's down a little dirt road that looks like it leads to a redneck bait shop. Went to Wet Willie's later that night, where they have 190 PROOF daiquiris... fun times :-). Saturday I got to do some shopping, but unfortunately didn't have time to see the sights. Savannah has 24 city squares, some of which were incorporated into the original city design. And how many did I see? Zero :-P.

Came back on Sunday & spent most of the week doing absolutely nothing. Cooked dinner for Megan, Zack, & Lauren on Tuesday night (or maybe it was Monday, I can't remember), went to the gym, work, etc.

On Friday I went vintage shopping with Shannon (my new Raleigh BFF, haha)! I found two really cute dresses for the D.C., and I can't wait for people to ask me where I got them so I can turn up my nose and say, "Oh, it's vintage" :-D. Drove out to Chapel Hill that night where we had amazing Turkish food at Tallula's, and beers at a pub on Franklin St (can't remember the name).

I tried to make it to Raleigh Downtown Live for Joan Jett this past Saturday, but after circling the general area for an hour looking for a parking spot, got the heads-up from Shannon that they weren't letting anyone else in. Moore Square's capacity is 12,000, and I'm sure they weren't keeping a very good count so there were most likely waaaaay more than 12,000 people there. So we headed over to Ugly Monkey where we somehow ended up with free Jack & Coke slushies. Yum :-).

Monday: Big Boss for delicious beers. Tuesday: DW & I met up with Shannon and the adorable Mr. Mazer at Cameron Village- she deserves mad props for biking there all the way from her house! And tonight is meeting/Moonlight.

So now you're caught up :-).

Another Movie To Add To My Must-See List

I've heard the book was fantastic but I haven't read it yet.

Not much else to report. Went to the Showgram Friday Free for All last week which was awesome, then to Winston Salem for the DC Saturday morning, then to Southpoint and a friend's house for dinner.

I have a rental car this week while my car is in the body shop. The passenger side door got dented by a landscaping company while I was at work, so they're paying to have it fixed this week (darn straight :-P). It's a Mazda 3, which I've driven before, so it should go well. Hopefully the landscaping company won't dent this one as well :-).

A Very Uninteresting Weekend

Friday: Slept in, went to the gym/pool, then shopping, then went to an outdoor movie at the NC Art Museum. It was a documentary called "Man on Wire" about a French tightrope walker that strung a line between the Twin Towers in the 70s. I thought it was really good! Very entertaining for a documentary.

Saturday: I meant to go out to breakfast at the Farmer's Market and then to the Flea Market, but that night I didn't sleep well at all, so finally at 6am I decided to get up and go out in service instead, but around 8am I started feeling sick from lack of sleep so I just went back to bed. Got back up around 11 & went shopping again. I've been looking for dresses for Convention but so far I haven't found anything that I like. I'm running out of places to go too :-/.

Sunday: Meeting, came home, went back to bed, cleaned the upstairs, watched the first half of "Benjamin Button", then to the last hockey game of the season.

Now it's Monday, and I'm at work, bleh. Hoping for a decent week but we'll see.

Change in Plans

So I ended up not going to Charlotte this weekend. Too many things going on at home to get away :-/. Friday I went out in service with a friend instead, then to the lake and to another friend's house for dinner and a movie. Saturday, service again, then to the gym/pool (where I ran on the treadmill again! Yay me!), then out to dinner at 518 West. Fantastic whole wheat fettucine. Sunday, meeting, then the boys' hockey game.

Today, not so great of a day. I wasn't feeling so well plus the weather was kinda blah, and to top it all off the landscaping guy comes in around quittin' time to tell me they ran into my car with one of their carts, leaving a decent sized dent with white scratches in my passenger door. It's near the bottom, so all things considered it's not too bad. But added to everything else it was the icing on the cake.

Mmm, cake.

Creative Titles Escape Me

I'm pretty proud of myself today- I got up early and went to the gym! AND I actually ran on the treadmill! I usually just walk because I'm paranoid that I'll trip & fall if I run, but I mustered the courage to do it today and I did good! Power walked for a mile and a half and then ran for a half mile. Go me!

Of course I'm probably undoing everything I just did by eating a greasy sausage & cheese biscuit from BK, but whatev. I'll break even anyway :-P.

Tonight I'm going to The Point for dinner with my mom and some friends. I've never eaten there, but supposedly they have 1/2 price appetizers on Thursday nights. Then after dinner I'm meeting some more friends for drinks. Not too exciting but it should be fun anyway.

It seems like a big part of my life revolves around restaurants. Maybe I should turn this into a food blog... I eat out all the time, and we all know I'm opinionated :-P. Plus I've always wanted to be a food critic. It's a thought.
